Privacy
What we collect when you register a result, why we need it, and who else sees it. Anyone can take the assessment without giving us anything — this applies only from the point you choose to register.
Who holds your data
Onsiren Limited is the controller for everything on this page. Clocked is a product of Onsiren Limited, not a separate company — so although you will see both names, there is one organisation responsible and one place to send a request.
Your data is used for two distinct purposes: running this competition, and — once you claim a call sign — reserving that call sign on the OnSiren network so it is waiting for you if you install the app.
What we collect, and when
- While you take the assessment: which clips you were shown, when and where you tapped, and what you called each one. No name, no contact details, no IP address — an unregistered run really is not linked to a person, and most runs are never registered.
- When you register: your SIA licence number, and the sector, status and expiry date the public SIA register returns for it. The number is sent to OnSiren at this point as well, to check it has not already entered — the competition is one entry per licence.
- When you confirm your number: your mobile number, and the call sign you claim with it.
- With your entry only: your IP address and browser user-agent, kept to detect fraudulent entries to a cash prize. These are attached to your competition entry, not to the runs themselves.
We do not ask for your name or your email address, and we do not set advertising or analytics cookies on this site.
Why we are allowed to hold it
We rely on legitimate interests: running a prize competition honestly, checking that entrants are licensed officers as the rules require, and preventing fraudulent entries. You are not asked to consent, because consent you could withdraw halfway through a competition would not be a real choice for either of us.
Under review with our advisers before entries open.
Who else sees it
- The OnSiren network — your mobile number and call sign go to the OnSiren platform directly from your browser, so your call sign is reserved and waiting if you install the app. Your entry — licence number, register sector, status and expiry, mobile, call sign, IP, user-agent and your full clip-by-clip result — is stored on OnSiren’s systems, which is where the competition is judged and the prize decided.
- Google (reCAPTCHA) — checks you are not an automated script when you request a code or claim a call sign. Google receives your IP address and interaction signals, under its own privacy policy.
- Twilio — delivers the six-digit code to your handset.
We also send your licence number to the SIA Register of Licence Holders to check it, and keep the status it returns. We do this when you register, and again before any prize is paid.
How long we keep it
Entries, licence numbers and results are kept until the prize has been paid and the competition audited, and are then reviewed by hand. There is no automatic deletion — removal is a deliberate, documented action by an operator, so that a prize decision cannot quietly lose the evidence behind it.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can also object to how we are using it.
One request covers everything we hold, whether it sits on the Clocked side or the OnSiren network side — you do not need to ask twice. Note that withdrawing your entry means withdrawing from the competition.
This page covers the competition. Everything else Onsiren Limited does with your data is in the main OnSiren privacy policy, which applies once you install the app.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@onsiren.com. We respond within one month.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle a request, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
